A selection of diamond ring designs. Yours will be designed around the person who will wear it — these are simply a starting point for the conversation.
Process
How your ring comes together
- Stage 1
Conversation
We begin with the person, occasion or idea behind the piece. You do not need a finished design, just a reason to begin.
- Stage 2
Design
Christopher develops the idea with you, considering proportion, wearability, metal, gemstones and the details that will make it personal.
- Stage 3
Selection and approval
You review the proposed design and chosen materials before anything is made. Work begins only when you are happy to proceed.
- Stage 4
Making and presentation
Your approved design is made in England, then checked and presented to you as a finished piece created for you.

Budget and timescale
What to expect
Budget
Every commission is individually considered and quoted. Your budget helps Christopher guide the scale, gemstones, precious metal and design choices from the outset. Those decisions are discussed openly, and you will receive a clear quotation before you approve the design and making begins.
You do not need to know what each element should cost before the first conversation.
Timescale
The time required depends on the design, gemstone sourcing and complexity of the piece. If it is intended for a proposal, anniversary or other important date, tell Christopher at the first conversation. Starting early gives the best choice and allows the piece to be designed and made without unnecessary pressure.
A realistic schedule will be discussed before you commit.

Documented from the beginning
A lasting record of a one-off ring
Every completed bespoke engagement ring includes a SmartReport™ recording the design, materials, gemstones, photographs and relevant supporting information. The record is available through ValuVault™, helping you retain the proof, protection and provenance behind a ring created only for you.
It provides a clear foundation for insurance and for the ring’s future valuation, care and history.
FAQs
Engagement ring questions
Do I need to know which diamond or gemstone I want?
No. Many people begin with only a sense of what feels right. Christopher will explain the differences between natural diamonds, laboratory-grown diamonds and coloured gemstones, show how each choice affects the look of the ring and help you decide with confidence rather than guesswork.
Can Christopher help me choose the gemstone and setting?
Yes. Choosing the gemstone and the setting together is a central part of the commission. Christopher talks you through shape, size, colour and how the setting holds and frames the gemstone, considering how the ring will be worn every day as well as how it looks.
Is the ring designed specifically for us?
Yes. Each engagement ring is designed for the person who will wear it, not adapted from a catalogue. The proportions, gemstone, metal and details are developed with you, so the finished ring reflects the two of you and the way it will be worn.
Where do consultations take place?
Consultations take place at Christopher’s studio in Windsor House, Cornwall Road, Harrogate, by appointment. If you would like to talk first, call 07940 295070, email chris@christopherstoner.com or message Christopher on WhatsApp to arrange a time that suits you.
How far in advance should I begin?
Timing varies with the design and the gemstones involved, so it is best to begin as early as is practical. If you have a proposal date or occasion in mind, mention it in your first conversation. Christopher will discuss whether the timescale is realistic before you commit to anything.
What happens before the ring is made?
You review the proposed design and the chosen gemstones and materials before anything is made. Work begins only once you are happy to proceed. The approval stage is there so you can ask questions, request changes and feel certain about the ring before it goes into making.
